HRO SET TO TAKE NEW DIRECTION

The Horse Racing Only (HRO) brand will be taking a new direction with the upcoming launch of the www.horseracingonly.com.au website.

The new site will provide a fully comprehensive account of racing in Queensland and will also give in-depth coverage of racing on the national and international stage.

Apart from expanding the coverage enjoyed up to now at horseracingonly.blogspot.com, the new site will also be more user-friendly, with easy navigation coming with just the click of a button.

As a consequence of the workload and time constraints required to finalise the launch of www.horseracingonly.com.au, the posting of reviews and photos to this blogspot in the coming week will not be as regular as it has been up until now.

CLEAN AS A WHISTLE

CUSHION TRACK CONFLICT

A Cushion Track company representative, Chief Steward Reid Sanders, Sunshine Coast Racecourse Manager Murray Weeding and Queensland Racing Chairman Bob Bentley watch runners go through their paces on the Cushion Track at the Sunshine Coast meeting on January 2. The controversy surrounding the synthetic racing surface took a new turn today with the Toowoomba Turf Club being served with a notice by members to convene a Special General Meeting. Those requesting the meeting want the installation of the Cushion Track at Toowoomba, due to begin in February, to be deferred until further notice. (06-01-09).

AWARD PRESENTATION

Jason Holder won the Ipswich Jockey's Premiership last season. Holder was presented with a trophy at Ipswich yesterday to mark that achievement. It is interesting to note that former Ipswich Jockey Premiership winners have ridden the winner of the Melbourne Cup on no less than six occasions in the last ten years. Michael Rodd (Efficient), Glen Boss (Makybe Diva - three times), Scott Seamer (Ethereal) and Chris Munce (Jezabeel) are the riders who have gone on to achieve that honour. No pressure Jason. THAT'S THE SPIRIT

Members of the 100 Club, which has proved to be a highly successful initiative of the Sunshine Coast Turf Club, had a good day out at their featured race day on Sunday. Here some of the club members display the type of enthusiasm that adds to the pleasure of the day. So do you think they are cheering a winner home on the track? Not quite. This picture was taken during the trophy presentation after the feature race when their loudest cheer was reserved for a fellow race sponsor, who was busy handing the trophy over to winning connections. There is nothing quite like genuine community support to lift the spirit and the Sunshine Coast Turf Club has that in abundance
